Bald

Is there another bird that resembles the bald eagle? Wouldn't it be unusual to see one in Oklahoma?

I am just sure I saw a bald eagle picking up a dead armadillo yesterday. It was a huge brown bird with a white tail and white head, yellow beak...looked just like a bald eagle. But I didn't think they ventured this far south, so I thought I would check.

1. An African Fish-Eagle resembles a bald eagle.
2. They are occasionally seen in Oklahoma in winter...see link. It's more likely you saw a baldy than an African fish eagle!
3. No other bird in usa resembles an adult bald eagle. an immature golden eagle I guess could be mistaken for a young baldy before it get the famous white head
4. You absolutely do have bald eagles in Oklahoma. 5. Bald (never could figure out why they call them bald) eagles have been present in Oklahoma for thousands of years. Migration of the armadillo as far north as Oklahoma is a fairly recent event.
