What symbols was the United States congress deciding on besides the Bald Eagle as a national emblem?

yes the Turkey is the only other symbol I know of. But congress spent 6 years deciding on a national emblem besides the Turkey what other symbols did they consider

1. The Wild Turkey Natives always thought it would have been a better choice
2. Ben Franklyn thought the Turkey was a good choice considering the Eagle was a scavenger. I guess the people thought we may not be able to eat the National bird so, they chose the Eagle.
