Is it true that the US Air Force is training the bald eagle to.........?
.........take the place of unmanned reconnisance planes? I heard where the USAF were strapping cameras to the bald eagle & having the bird fly over enemy territoty. Do you think the bald eagles is the best bird for this type of task?

- R you serious??
- This is untrue.
- I doubt it
- No type of animal is best for this type of task
- Do you really believe this Crap???
- Put down the crack pipe
- Better to use a bald eagle than a sparrow as it would need to be a larger bird in order to carry the camera. The military often train animals to do the dirty work.
- no,...I think the best bird for the job would be the emu. They would never expect some thing like that.
- i think in this day and age everything is been beyound its limit; therefore there are no limits. our national bird should be left alone. a sign of the times as far as i'm concerned. that's not good.
- I heard that rumor too--but that it was a flamingo...you know, very inconspicuous. oh wait...flamingos don't fly. Oh well.
- This is F A L S E!!!!!!!!!!! N O to the second question!
- Seriously doubt it and don't know you would have gotten that info. Some animals have been trained to do some things for the military but I doubt if bald eagles would be used-first off not that many of them, symbolic importance and because they are native to North American and not found much of anywhere else. If you were going to train a bird for something like that you would use one that does not attract attention and a bald eagle in many parts of the world would attract attention.
- It sounds like the dumb USAF to come up with something like that. NO they use remote planes. I WAS IN THE USAF loading RECON CAMERAS ON B-52 BS THEY HAD A BRIGHT IDEA OF USING LASER FOR FLASH LITE.WE SET UP IN SHOP BIG SHOT Sgt SET IT OFF.WE STOOD AROUND WITH DARK GOGGLES.THE DARN THING BLEW HOLE THROUGH 4 WALLS START IN FIRES. then blamed AIRMAN.
- bald eagles are protected by congress, not possible
- Please stop sniffing glue, you've destroyed far too many brain cells!
- Yes, that is true. It is however, a classified "black" project. But, since you have already spoiled it, I will explain. 1. It's patriotic 2. Its more cost-efficient 3. Why have an unarmed plane buzzing around when a bird can drop "homemade" bombs and claw the fuck out of insurgents? 4. Its very well suited because it has a mean attitude after enduring all those bald jokes. Damn, I shouldn't have said that, I'm off to Guantanamo.
- LOL NO! the bald eagle is still considered ENDANGERED! there is no way we would intentionally put an endangered bird into harms way especially the bald eagle. The fact you think there is an ounce of truth to this AMAZES me.
- No, it is the hummingbird. They have no radar signature and are more maneuverable at lower altitudes.
