Bald

Is it true that the bald eagle is a close relative to the giant squid?

My biology professor says he can hardly tell the difference between the two. I think it's just a coincidence that they look alike What does science tell us?

  1. No.
  2. I think you know the answer to this one.
  3. that's just a stupid question.. and i think that you were actually looking for a stupid answer..
  4. I'm not even going to bother looking this one up, that's ridiculous. Was your biology teacher trying to illustrate some other unrelated point? Otherwise, I don't think they belong in front of a classroom.
  5. After seeing the brand-new first photos of the giant squid alive in its habitat, I agree with you that there are resemblances... Well, both fly... I mean one flies under water, which I guess technically would be swimming. Did you know they're jet powered, squid that is, they take in water at the front and expel water behind for propulsion just like jet planes work in air. Eagles take in air through their skin and feathers, but they don't expel it for propulsion, bad choice there. And they both have feathers, except the squid doesn't. They DO both have BEAKS! Now that can't be overlooked. And they both have tentacles, but the eagle's tentacles have bones in them are are called "legs". Hmmm... I could go on, but I put it to you that NOONE has ever seen a Giant Squid and a Bald Eagle in the same place. One lives deep in the ocean and one in the sky. Perhaps the Bald Eagle, proud symbol of America, has had a secret identity all this time? Well, with the new squid photos I think the jig is up.
  6. That would be crazy! They both have beaks...I don't know! Then again, Dolphins are closely related to Dogs!!!
  7. I don't know the answer, but it would be based on the similarity between the two species' genetic code. For example, the mouse is 96% genetically identical to humans. Therefore, is it a close relative?
  8. Yes. It's sad but true. You've probably heard the joke, "Where does a redneck go to pick up chics?" "A family reunion." This is not a very funny joke. It is tragically true and based on real-world incidents. You may recall having seen this on a PBS documentary. The bald eagle and the giant squid are mutant offspring resulting from such an incestuous coupling. They are simultaneously siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts of each other.
  9. It is my suggestion that you spend more time answering the more important questions in life and just leave those poor squids alone. After all they are pretty tasty when you batter them up and deep fry them. What are you trying to do? Give Bald Eagles a complex? Please, let it be, move on and let squids be squids and eagles be eagles.
  10. well if its true then theyre both related to my boss
