I have to write a paper on the bald eagle for school, and i`m trying to figure out how it went extinct? I meant to say Endangered instead of exstinct. sorry!

  1. easy. it's not extinct
  2. They are not extinct, just endangered... agricultural chemicals, namely DDT (not in use anymore,) are to blame.
  3. The bald eagle isnt extinct! Although alot are in captivity because the breed is dying out. Years ago they almostwere extinct but the numbers are improving and if conservation keeps up the spiecies should continue to thrive.
  4. Bald Eagles are no way near endangered. They have made a tremendous rebound, there conservation status is now LC (least concern). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_eagle
  5. Hi, I hate to be the barer of bad news, though in this case i believe it is good news and im glad to give it, but regress, Bald Eagles are not extict. in fact see a couple every day. Thank You
  6. It isn't extinct.
  7. The bald eagle is not extinct. It was endangered. The reason was because it was ingesting DDT (a chemical). The DDT was affecting the egg shell and basically made it impossible for eggs to mature correctly.
  8. where in the heck are you getting you information? who ever told you that is smoking something good and needs to pass it over here!
  9. they arnt extinct. i also think that a couple months ago they were taken off the endangered species list, but are still being kept tack of for a couple of years.
  10. They are not extinct, never went extinct and in fact, are on the rebound throughout north america. While it is still labled as endangered, the bald eagle has taken tremendous strides in recouping it's numbers and is now much more common throughout NA even in areas where it was rarely seen since the DDT debacle.
  11. The bald eagle is not extinct. It was on the endangered list for a long while, but now the numbers are so high that it is no longer considered endangered. They are still protected by federal law, however, and harassing or injuring them is illegal. A variety of factors led to their initial inclusion on the endangered list, including their being hunted for sport and/or killed for their feathers, talons, etc. which are valued by certain cultures as medicinal as well as environmental factors. I volunteer at the Center for Birds of Prey, and several years ago the center had an influx of Eagles that were sick or died. Much research by the center, DNR and other agencies led back to a landfill/dump where some local vets were disposing the carcasses of animals that had been euthanised. The chemicals were making the Eagles sick and/or killing them. Laws related to disposing of the animal carcasses were changed as a result.
  12. NOT EXTINCT!!
