Will joining the navy increase stress hair loss, like its boot camp and training contribute to hairloss? IF IT DOES CAUSE HAIR LOSS I"M STILL JOINING THE NAVY, just want to know thats it. And i'm 18 by the way. Would increase hair loss as i get older and yes i know i have to shave of my head, but lets say i serve my time in the navy for 4 years or am off duty, and come out as regular civilian, would my hair grow back if there were plenty stress? or would it grow back during off duty normally, or would stress cause some hair loss
How long does it take for hair to grow back after stress related hair loss? So late May/Early June I had some important exams and because of the stress I lost quite a bit of hair. Now its summer and I'm happy/relaxed and just chilling out. My hair does seem to be thickening up now. How long roughly will it take for my hair to be as thick as it was before the hair loss? Thanks! xx
Medical advice on stress & hair loss? For a few months now I have had a lot of stress related symptoms; inability to sleep, lack of concentration, less of an appetite, dizziness/nausea, frequent crying at small irritations and recently hair loss. Because I constantly worry about my appearance and what others think of me the hair loss is stressing me out even further. Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before? And if so are there any medications you can take to stop the stress/hair loss? It's beginning to really worry me. I know this question sounds really selfish and insignificant as there are bigger problems in the world than this, but any help would be appriciated. No stupid answers please. :)
Does stress related hair loss grow back? I just went to college, im 18 and i can see my hair receding a litttle bit. I can also see the front is a little bit thinner. I'm assuming this is just stress related, because I have been stressing out about exams and relationship issues, but will my hair grow back if it is stress related, or will it just stay thin and/or get worse? Thanks for the help
is stress induced hair loss reversible? isn't it true that sometimes hair thins because of stress and not because of natural hair loss? how do you tell what type of hair loss you are experiencing? and are some forms of hair loss reversible?
Stress-related hair loss - any remedies that work? I used to have very thick and full hair and over the past year and it has thinned out to the point where you can almost see my scalp on the top of my head. A hairdresser said that it was a stress-related problem because hairdye, while damaging your hair, will not make it fall out that much and since it was only on the top and the rest of my hair isn't falling out. Is there anything I can do for the hair to grow back? Any products I can use?? I am an 18 year old female and as you can imagine, this is kind of embarassing. I'm really worried that it might keep falling out. I have stopped dying my hair (just in case) and I use thickening shampoos (I don't think those work, but whatever) but it's still the same. If anybody has any solutions; store-bought, home-made, change in diet, vitamins, ANYTHING, I am willing to try it.
Will stress related hair loss reverse, and hair grows back? I had experienced a severe stress and depression 3 years ago, and hair started to fall out. Right now, I am no longer stressed out, and hairs stopped falling. However, my hair is still thin. I am using a topical liquid med on the scalp everyday. Can hair grow back if the loss is stress related?

is it genetic or stress that causes hair loss? im a regular 18 yr old kid (turning 19 in 2 weeks) and im experiencing hair loss last 8 months. Everyone on my dads side all lost their hair when they got older but i thought the hair issue came from the moms side? maybe i stressed out a little bit cuz of school and the family issue. anything i can do to prevent this? my moms side is normal, no one loses their hair
Does hair loss from stress look different? My hair density is reducing in the oddest places. In general it is thinner on top of my head, and very sparse in the front of the middle of my hairline. This is different from standard male-pattern balding. I have also been very stressed these past few years. Could that be a cause of this strange loss in hair density?
Stress and hair loss? What are the facts? Anybody experiencing this? I have been losing so much hair and I notice it on the top the most like where my bangs start and just basically on the top. I can see the light shining right through to my scalp when I'm getting ready for work by the bathroom mirror. My job is really stressful for me and my relationship with my b/f is very, very stressful as well. Anybody going through any of this bs.?

What can I do to relieve my stress and stop hair loss!? Over the past couple of months, I've been under some serious stress and I've noticed a considerable amount of hair loss. I've been to the doctors and he's said theres nothing I can do until I resolve the stress, which isn't going to happen really! Basically my hair has got really 'thin' rather than experiencing bald patches and it's really getting me down. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of any good de-stress techniques? or ways I can encourage re-growth?
How can I tell if hair loss is Stress related? Im only 18 and Ive noticed I been losing alot of hair lately mostly on the left side of my head, even the left side of my hairline has receded but my right side looks ok. Is this natural hairloss/ balding or could it be related to stress? because Ive been really stressed out the past month almost depressed and see my hair thin out is not helping it
is stress-induced hair loss reversible? isn't it true that sometimes hair thins because of stress and not because of natural hair loss? how do you tell what type of hair loss you are experiencing? and are some forms of hair loss reversible?
Will stress cause hair loss? I'm having A LOT of stress lately over school(High School) and whatnot, but i'm young and i thought only older people loose their hair over stress. I had hair to mshouldersrs and now its close to being a boyish hair cut. Some say its to over heating but i only heat my hair once a week. I'm doing everything right it seems but its just continuinng to fall out. And keep in mind I'm african american so you'll be dealing with african american hair.
Stress and hair loss question?? Hi, about a year ago, i had one night (just 1) of some pretty intense stress. Needless to say, i immediatly lost much of my hair, just in one day, and also i lost alot of body hair too! it just kept falling off.... also, my beard did not grow in correctly for over a month... before it grew in VERY thick, but when i had the stress, it didnt grow at all. On top of that, the remaining hair (particularily on my face) had a really coarse and somewhat "greasy" feel. are these all normal symptoms of stress related hair loss?
how long does telogen effluvium, stress related hair loss/ shedding last? im scared! i had such thikc hair before, like the hairdressers would have to book me in for an extra long appointment and im losing so much its making me so scared. i would say ive lost atleast 20 percent already, its been about a month and a half, whenever i look it up on the internet it freaks me out cos i read all this scaryy things about it lasting ages. mine was a result of extreme stress, now nearly 5 months ago. i eat well, and get good proteina and i am on iron tabets and vitamin b complex for the last month. how logn does it usually last? have you experienced it?
Can stress really cause hair loss (male pattern baldness - "M' shaped in the front)? I have been very stressed lately (after the death of my dad two years ago) and I have been to my doctor a couple of times and to the ER one time because I have been having chest pains and back pains.. my doctor took an X-ray, EKG and bloodtests... they came out all normal. My doctor told me that I am just stressed out so she referred me to see a counselor which i am currently seeing. Now my chest pains and backpains went away, but now i am more forgetful than before and sometimes I can't concentrate when im doing my homework and school essays. My question is can Stress cause hair loss such as male pattern baldness? I have been experiencing male pattern baldness in the front ("M" shaped) and i went to see my doctor also about it and she told me its normal and she told me to take rogaine, so I have been taking that medication for almost a year now. The only thing is I have read a lot of articles online that severe stress can cause hair to fall out and if your stress is finally under controlled then your hair will regrow in 6 months or so. IS that true? is that mean that if i finally able to control my stress, my hair in the front will finally grow again? should i continue taking rogaine? or should i stop and wait for 6 months, and check if my hair will grow back. I am only 21 years old and my dad had thin hair but he never experienced male pattern baldness. So i'm very confused. please help! thank you for your time.

stress and hair loss? A couple of months ago my aunt did my hair and she would say that I had a couple of patches of missing hair throughout my head . I didn't pay attention to it because it was unnoticeable. Now, its been a couple of months since then and when I went to wash my hair today I discovered a huge patch of hair missing in the back of my scalp. It looks like someone gave me a buzz cut or something. I also noticed after inspecting the rest of my head, that I had a lot of thinning on the sides. Someone told me that stress cause this. Is this true? I googled stress and hair loss and alopecia areata came up. It said that it sometimes it starts in bald patches and spreads throughout the scalp. Well, my patch isnt really bald it looks more like a buzz cut. Could this be the same thing? I'm a teenage female and I dont think this is supposed to be happening!
Anyone have stress induced hair loss? Please help? How long after a stressful situation before the hair falls out How long will the falling out last How much hair falls out I am trying to attribute my scary hair falling out issue with the stress caused from sellling a house, living with family, moving again into another home and then buying and moving again within the past six months. All of a sudden this past month I am losing so much hair including roots and my 18" Ringlets. I have been telling myself and everyone I am not stressed but In fact I think I am. I haven't cried or sad but really feel like exploding from the incertainties and restlessness I have been dealing with. Do you think this is reason enough for my hair loss? All this moving around started 6 months ago but this month my hair strands are coming out more than I ever seen in my life. When I was under the most stress I wasn't losing hair and now that everything is coming together and nothing to worry about - now the hair is coming out. Is a couple month long delay typical?
Who to see for hair loss and growth? I have been experiencing for a long time now hair fall. My hair used to be super thick and straight, now it is curly and thinned way out. When I am stressed, hair falls more than when I am not. So, what I want to know is if a dermatologist is the right doctor to see for these issues. If anyone has any suggestions for products I can use at home or some sort of home treatment please feel free to suggest some.
Extreme head aches, a lot of stress, and hair loss.? My boyfriend has major stress problems, he is SERIOUSLY loosing hair, and he has EXTREME head aches from time to time. The stress comes from collage, relationship, family and more.. I keep telling him to make an appointment to the doctors but he wont, he's stubborn. The only person he told this too is me and his family has noticed in his loss of hair but he wont tell them about his head aches and stress. He doesn't want to let his family down or worry about him. I feel like this is serious.. He's only 21 years old. What do you think he should do, or I should do? He said if I stop talking to him things will only get worse for his health.. and he feels like he's going to die soon and he has accepted it.. ='( We have been together for 6 years.

Can depression / stress cause hair loss? Im 20 years old and when i get a bit 'low' or worried about something i notice my hair starts to fall out. I went to the docs last year and they just told me that it wasnt anything to be worried about but its still happening. Ive tried using vitamins to help with hair growth but does anybody have any other ideas?? thanks
Stress causing Hair loss? Ok, I'm 17. My dad didn't lose any hair until he was about 40, his brother lost his hair in early 30s, and my grandad on my mothers side still has all his hair. I've been very stressed recently. I went on holiday whilst leaving an untrustworthy gf at home, she left me for another guy. I had my friend comment on my hair thinning (it actually wasnt at the time and since then I've been so stressed about losing hair) I also had a couple red highlights and my hair washed and cut at toni and guy with shampoo that had 'peppermint' in it. So surely this can't be male pattern baldness at my age? Any sugestions on what to do? I also need stress helping tips.
16...Hair Loss? Stress Or Overprocessing? Helppp? I have always dyed my hair alot since I was about 13 although I noticed my hair started falling out at the beginning of the year so I stopped dying it and left it without straightening it or anythinggg for like 5 months. I have been very very very stressed recently and depressed and the doctor said that hair dye cannot cause permanent damage- that it was the stress and loads of women dye their hair so I could keep doing it if i wanted. So i dyed my hair again when I was really upset, it was supposed to be bright blonde but ended up orange so I had to correct it with a semi permanent, when this washed out I used a black hair colour (permanent) and cut off about 3 inches and all the damaged hair was gone the hairdresser said. So now my hair is falling out again, been very very stressed again recently but my dad lost his hair young and he used to dye his hair alot, however my doctor said that my dad's was hereditory and male pattern baldness is completely different to female pattern baldness and as this does not run in my family I should be okay. Pleeease don't tell me i shouldn't dye my hair, i know i shouldn't, but now i'm just wondering what you think is causing this hair loss ( as it looks like theres a root on the end of each one ) and what i should do next. xxxxxxxxxx
Can stress related hair loss appear to be male pattern baldness? I am 22 and I recently pulled myself out of a mild depression. I had moved to a new city, I suffered high levels of stress and anxiety over a period of a year. I had chest pains from which I could not sleep and often felt it was a heart attack. I started noticing severe levels of hairloss on the top of my scalp. It appears to not be thinning out as badly as it is on the top. I quit my job, changed schools and I have managed to keep the stress levels under control. I consulted a dermatologist last week who spent 5 minutes speaking with me and didn't even bother to look physically at my hair. She just gave me the blanket response. "Oh, you're losing your hair, this is male-pattern-baldness." I disagree, to a large degree my family has NO history of hairloss and the stress was so over whelming, the hairloss was so sudden. I understand that hair returns after stress usually in 6 months? Should I wait that long from when I gained stress control before I start rogaine?
Stress related hair loss in young women? Okay, I'm only in my early 20's, and I have a very demanding job and my home life is absolutely crazy. Before I left my last job, I was so stressed and so upset that I started losing my hair in the front of my head - embarrassing, but I switched jobs and it started growing back. Well now my life has changed at home, and work is getting on top of me. I'm losing my hair HARDCORE this time around. I know it's stress related, but my stress isn't going anywhere... What can I do to try and grow my hair back?!

How long till hair loss from surgery stress reverses? I had rhinoplasty about four months ago, and after two months, my hair started shedding. Naturally I freaked out, but my dermatoligist said it was due to the stress from my surgery. While it's not like huge clumps are falling out, I still want to cry when I find strand after strand after combing or washing my hair. How long till this stops? And would it be unwise to color my hair?

Are there any remedies for hair loss due to stress? A female friend of mine had a couple of traumatic experiences a few years ago. She experienced a small patch of hair loss after the first incident. It eventually grew back. Months later after another near nervous breakdown, the spot came back on the other side of her head. Since then her hair has become very brittle and breaks easy. Not sure what she's tried. Just want to check options for myself to help her overcome this.
Can stress contribute to a hair loss in women? I've noticed my hair come out more than usual... I even see some bald patches underneath the outer layer of my hair. I've been coming out of a major nervous breakdown. Could this be related? Will my hair grow back?

Does hair loss due to stress eventually restore? Does hair loss due to stress eventually restore? I've been very stressed and depressed now for almost 1.5 years consistantly because I lost a loved one now in the last month I've gone from head full of hair to streaks of baldness on the crown of my head. that is WAY too fast for genetic hairloss so Im pretty sure its due to stress and many many many late nights and sleepless nights

hair loss!! stress management? my hair has been falling out for about a year now and it is very severe. i am almost bald actually. i am only nineteen years old so i decided to go to the doctor to find out the root of the problem. she ran all the tests and there is no vitamin deficiency of any sort no thyroid problems nothing like that. so she attributed it to stress. how can someone be stressed for over a year?! i dont really feel stressed but i dont know what stress feels like so maybe i am! the thing is too that i have no idea how to deal with stress especially cuz im not even sure what it is! any ideas how to manage my so called stress so my dam hair can just grow back already!!
Stomach aches and hair loss due to stress?? I have been under a tremendous amount of stress lately for reasons that are beyond my control. I'm 24 years old, normally very healthy. I am now noticing hair loss/thinning for the past few months and just recently I've been having a constant stomach ache- its not bad but it's always there- it is interfering with my appetite and the way I feel all day. I have a small "throw up" feeling in my throat at times. It comes on unexpectedly. I am NOT pregnant. I'm taking a multi-vitamin daily for my hair and overall health. Can stress be the cause of this? What can I do to help? Meditation? Anything? Any help would be appreciated.
Could cat's hair loss be associated with stress in pregnancy? My cat just had kittens and for the past two months she has been losing her hair on her back half, legs and stomach. She has no redness or irritation of the skin. She isn't excessively stratching the area and I don't visibly see any fleas. Could this be stress associated with her pregnancy? I would like to take her to the vet but was told that they would give her antibiotics and if it was a skin irritation that they would clear it,if not they would run more test. But wouldn't antibiotics be harmful to the kittens if given to her. I would like to just wait to see if it clears up after she finishes nursing. I have another cat and he has not been exposed to whatever she has so I'm certain it's not contagious. If it's just stress related I'm afraid that I will send a lot of money needlessly for them to tell me this is what it is.

My hair loss due to stress? or maybe just runs in my family.? --IT'S LONG BUT PLEASE READ-- Hmm.. I don't know where to start with this... I started to experience my hair thinning on top of my head, also my hair line is way different now because I lost hair around my temples and it is really thin. I can see the follicles but the hair is not present. I think this is because I have been under a lot of stress the past 8 months or so. I am stressed because I am in debt and i'm only 17 !!! I know 700 dollars might not sound like a lot for some people, but when you leave your job and you have a gf that you gotta make it up too because of something stupid I did, it makes it alot harder to control stress, and to stop it. Heres how it went. I was 15 turning 16 when i started putting on alot of hairspray on my hair to keep the hair style i had. This went on for a year and a half until i started noticing hair falling out and my scalp was really itchy and irritating all the time. I kept on using it because i did'nt wanna leave my hair down... it just looks weird. As i kept using it my hair fell out around my temples alot, and my scalp was really dry all the time. All this happened during my stress phase because of my gf, and I had no Job. I also started gaining weight. Before all of this happened i used to be happy and none of my hair would fall out. Oh another thing is I smoked alot of marijuana for 6 months. I ended it after the incident that happened, and i had to make it up to my gf. So i had to quit marijuana, It was really hard for me because i was so addicted to it and i didnt even realize what it was doing to my life. It also made me really depressed because i couldn't quit, and my gf threatened that she was going to leave me if i didn't choose one or the other between her or marijuana.. I obviously wanted to end marijuana for her because i love her. But i couldn't at all. My brain was so fried and i would do it behind her back. When me and my girlfriend were starting to get better I ended marijuana for good. But at this time i still hadnt paid off my debts for bank, and Nubody's. Which still left me with stress. Once i noticed my hair was falling out i didn't know what to do. I kept itching it and rubbing my hands through my hair all the time. It was like a habit. This went on for a while. This just caused alot more stress and i didnt want to work at all. But eventually my mom would always tell me to stop using the hairspray and to get a job but i was so used to not having one, i was so stupid. Hair loss is a big problem for me because im only 17 right now and i dont want my hair to fall out. I dont know if its the stress or the hairspray or what ever else. My mothers side has no baldies, but my dads side has all his brothers bald and his grand father bald. But my dad actually has hair on his head which is funny except on his hair line . I used alot of shampoos too during the phase where my hair was falling out and i did no research to help me. I recently got a job and i am happy because im going to be paying off my debts. After that i hope my stress disappears at least a little bit. I stopped using hair products, stopped smoking, stopped smoking marijuana, stopped using shampoo everyday and only use it every other day. I also started working out more and im feeling much better because i can keep my head off my hair for a while. I also try to not touch my hair even if its itchy. I read on some sites that hairs will grow back once you find out what it was that was causing it. I really hope that my hair does regrow because I miss having hairstyles and i look ugly with my hair down. I just wanna be the one in my family who has a whole set of hair on his head. Ive been going through stress for about 9 months now or maybe even a year i dont recall. I know the people who are reading this might not think that it is the stress thats causing it, and you might think that what i just wrote isnt stress... But if you were put in my shoes for that whole 9-12 months you would understand my situation and what i went through with my family, gf, friends, . It was really hard for me and i am really trying to pick my life up again and im doing really well in school now. I am really proud of myself for that. But if i could regrow my hair i would be so happy because id feel more confident and more attractive. I want you guys to do your best to tell me what you think is causing my hair loss, if it will regrow, and some tips to keeping my hair healthy. Thank you all for sharing and reading my post. : )

can stress cause hair loss? i'm only 15 i've been crying a lot lately, depressed, because i'm always locked at home. i'm never allowed to go anywhere w/ my friends. my dad always yells at me... so.. whenever i brush my hand through my hair, like 2-3 hairs fall out. and total would be like 10 or something.. is this caused by stress? or could it be the shampoo ? blah i'm worried, i've never lost hair like this..... thanks

telogen effluvium/stress related temporary hair loss, anyone experienced this? i was ill and did not eat well and was very stressed 5 months ago i started shedding hair like crazy 2 months ago and it seems to be pretty much stoppiung now but my hair is a lot thinner, no one notices but i do as it is normally so so thick. anyone experienced this and how long did it take to regain thickness?
Does stress have a lot to do with hair loss? In college last year, as a freshman, I was sooo stressed .. pulling all-nighters about once every few weeks, bad eating habits, etc. It seemed like my hair was falling out. I had to clean my floor with duct tape & came up with handfuls of hair. It was pretty disgusting. It's not like my hair was noticeably thinner ... maybe I just noticed it more cuz of the tiny room ... and then it stopped during the summer. And I don't want to have to deal with that again THIS year. Is there a solution? Like sleep more & eat more protein? :x
does hair loss due to stress ever re-grow? last august my husband fell, went into a coma for 3 1/2 weeks, and ultimately died. during his coma and for about a month after his death i lost quite a bit of hair, i believe it was due to the stress i was going through during this tragic time.
