Female Hair Loss Treatment? Dermatologist or Dessange? I'm a female in my early 20's. I've been suffering for the past months from extravagant hair loss. My mom even noticed that the amount of hair I’ve been losing lately is “abnormal” I’m simply covering the house with all this hair I’m losing. I want to know the causes, and ways to prevent it. I’m still young to get a bald head! I’m thinking of two solutions, which one would you recommend: - Going to a Dermatologist. - Going to (Dessange) Saloon http://www.alghalia.com/PDF/Salon.pdf They have (hair teraetment sessions). If that doesn’t work, then I go to a dermatologist. What do you think? For extra information: Eating: I eat healthy. I’ve cut back on things I used to eat and don’t need (chips, chocolate, etc) and have taken out breakfast from my routine for about 3 days a week. I I have lost 2 or so Kilos. Still eat well. Stress: I don’t feel I’m stressed out especially that I’m on vacation. Sleep: I do wake up during my sleep, but generally I sleep well. My monthly cycle is normal. I feel my hormones are normal, since there are no other symptoms.

female hair loss? does female hair loss normally start at the middle part or somewhere else on the scalp
Excessive female hair loss? I'm a female in my early 20's and I've found myself to be shedding a lot. After washing my hair the drain is always filled with hair, my pillow has a significant amount of hair on it and I'm constantly sweeping/vacuuming the floor of my house. I have really thick hair so it doesn't appear to be thinning if you just looked at my head. I've experienced this increased hair loss for about a year now and I can always pull out a handful of hair by running my fingers through it. Any ideas to what may have caused it or how to further prevent it? Thank you!
female hair loss for a ginger? a friend of mine is a "ginger" red haired and freckled,is 21 years old and is loosing a lot of her long hair as she brushes it lately. is this normal for that skin/hair type? what can she do?
What could be the cause of female hair loss that is most pronounced on the nape of the neck? I am a 21 year old female. Until recently I had a very thick head of hair. I started to notice that I was losing more hair than normal this summer but I wasn't too worried since it didn't seem to be getting any thinner. Then about 3 weeks ago, my hair loss increased to the point where it was indisputably abnormal. And it has continued to fall as much every day since. My hair is now visibly thinner. My ponytail is about half the thickness it used to be. At first it seemed as though the hair loss was diffuse but now that my hair has thinned considerably, I've noticed that it is NOT diffuse and is coming from certain areas in particular: 1. my hair line (my bangs are so thin, they're nearly gone) 2. **especially the nape of my neck (you know when men's hair starts to recede at the temples? that's what the nape of my neck looks like now) and the thinning is more pronounced on the right side in both cases. I consulted 2 different doctors, but neither found anything abnormal in my blood work and didn't seem too eager to help me. What could be causing my hair loss and is it reversible? Also, as background information, I have no illnesses and I do not take any medication (including birth control), nor have I ever had any severe illnesses and the last pills I took were antibiotics about a year ago. All the men in my family are bald but none of the women are. The only travelling I've done in the last year is to Italy. Thank you so much for any help you can provide. My hair loss is progressing rapidly and I could use some answers so that I can take the necessary steps to stop it and hopefully reverse it. Help!
Which hormones cause pregnancy female hair growth? I have had female pattern baldness (which after testing was not due to thyroids, blood problems, etc) since I was in my teens, and it runs in my family. However, during both of my pregnancies, my hair filled back in to an acceptable level (and of course, it fell out again a few months after each birth). What hormone caused the hair to begin growing again, and is there a way to take it (like the birth control pill) to combat female hair loss?
Possible causes for female hair loss ? 36 yr old filipina is losing some hair of late. In good health, good diet and daily shower, every other day shampoo with "sunsilk"... any thoughts or cures ?
Female hair loss.......? I'm 22 years old and my hair has been falling out (more than is normal) for the past two years. The falling out has increased recently and so I finally went to see a doctor, who then told me to take a blood test. My hormone levels are fine... the only thing that's off is the level of thrombocytes - there's less than is normal. This can't be related to hair loss, can it? Are there any other causes that could possibly be for this? Thanks for your help.
Female hair loss issues. Serious.? Is there a correlation between dieting and hair loss that can be validated? I have had this happen twice when dieting. My bro in law is an MD and told me it's not possible as ppl have died of starvation with all of their hair. Any input would be appreciated. Also, any problems using pantene and experience hair loss?
Hair loss, female, teen? Alright, so I'm 18 yrs. old female...I have pretty long hair. Its shiny and all but I'm scared its falling out too much. I noticed this 2 yrs ago. Female hair loss question...? I'm an overweight 23 year old who has recently lost 30 pounds doing exercise and low carb dieting. However, about 3 months into the diet I started losing alot of hair on a daily basis. More than the 80-120 you're supposed to lose in a day. As a result I have lost about 40-50% of my total hair volume and it's very depressing. I stopped the diet and started eating like normal again and also started taking a centrum multi-vitamin. I have been doing this for 3 months now and I am still losing tons of hair a day. I am not going to diet again until I figure what is wrong with me. Has anyone else had this happen to them before. Am I going to wind up having to wear a wig? My friend had the same thing happen to her but her hair loss stopped about 2 weeks after she started eating like normal again. Why am I so different? Help! yes I was diagnosed with PCOS over 4 years ago but the hair loss just recently started. I have had all my hormones checked and I don't grow hair on my face or anything like most women do with PCOS. My testosterone level is normal but my estrogen was high.
Female Hair Loss. My hair was thick and now it has thinned out so much I have bald spots. I'm only 24!? Growing up my hair was so thick when I braided it, it was the size of my fist. Now, within the past year, it has thinned out so much a braid is only the width of my pinky. Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen? Or what I can do to reverse it? I have been using Mane-and-Tail shampoo and taking Vitamin B supplements but it has been getting worse. When I put my hair in a ponytail I actually can see bald spots. Please help me. I'm a 24 year old female. Full Time Student (no health insurance) Well balanced diet (I cheat only once a week) Diagnosed with Chronic Migraines. Currently taking Tri-Sprintec(birth control) Fioricet and Sumatriptan(for migranes) No history of hair thinning in my family(not even the men!) Please help me.

Female Hair Loss? I'm 20 years old and recently switched my birth control pill from microgestin fe 1/20 to ortho tri cyclen lo. Ive been on the ortho for about 4 months and my hair has been falling out in clumps the entire time... it feels like ive lost half my hair. This happened on the microgestin but it stopped by the 2nd month and grew back... but it doesn't seem to be easing up and it's frightening. Does anyone know what to do about this or has anyone experienced this before? Should I switch back to my old pill? I heard if you go off the pill during a hair loss period it will get even worse. I don't know what to do... please help.
Will female hair loss end? I'll go into details now. I'm a teenage girl, and about three weeks ago, I began to notice that my hair was falling out at an abnormal rate. I know that the average is 50-150 hairs a day, but I've easily been losing that many in just a simple shower. The loss is diffuse, not patchy. I've already seen my physician and had blood tests performed, and I was immediately recommended to a dermatologist. The soonest appointment was September 4th, so in the meantime, I'd like to know: how much more hair might I lose before I get to my dermatologist?
why am I having female hair loss? Since June, I've noticed rapid hair loss. I ued to have very, very thick hair. One day I was combing and all of these strands fell out. I know hair sheds in cycles, so I figured as much. But it was happening everyday. In the past month, I have lost so much hair. By the time I'm done brushing, I have clumps of hair in my brush and it's all over my shoulders. My once thick head is now flat and stringy. When I run my hand through it hair comes out, and you can see all of these places that just don't have hair anymore. I'm scared because my doctor had nothing to suggest other than using a different shampoo. I couldn't believe it. This isn't a shampoo issue, something is very, very wrong and it's not letting up. There is a tiny blad spot growing at the center-front of my forehead. Help! I'm 27.
does anyone have female hair loss? my hair is so thick but has been falling out...scalp is itchy...I look after my hair and scalp...use good products, but my hair is definitely thinning mostly on top...any suggestions (serious ones...haha)
Female hair loss at 25? I have noticed that over the past month or so, my hair seems to be falling out quite a bit in the shower. I will take my hands and rake them through my hair like I always do with conditioner, and come back with clumps of hair after shampooing my hair. I haven't switched shampoos, or conditioners...the only product I use on my hair is VO-5 Hair Dressing I think its called - and I blow dry my hair when I wash it. I was advised by my hairdresser a few months ago to only wash it once or twice a week because my hair tends to dry out easily. I also am 25 years old and this seems rather odd to be happening to me so young! I am scared that something is wrong with me! I have heard about this happening to people who are anorexic but I am definitely not anorexic or bulimic. Thank you for any help!
Haircut suggestions for a female with hair loss on top, thin hair...? Hi Everyone! I am a 29 yr. old female (brown skinned and have dark hair- Pakistani/Indian) with thinning hair on top. If I part my hair in the middle, it is VERY visible. I normally tease my hair on top, bunch it together & clip it. That way you can't see my scalp. Sick of my long hair (years with this style), it's to my bra strap. It is layered. My face is round & I have a widow's peak. I am trying to not blow try my hair & just let it stay wavy. My hair is very dry at the ends. Most of the time I am just accepting of it all and get on with it but some days- well, it's not easy for a woman to suffer hair loss (I can't imagine it's easy for a man either). I want a shorter hair cut- something that would suit my round face & that would be able to minimize hair loss. And of course, not show my scalp. Any ideas? Help?! If you need to see a pic: you can go to http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4gstdt3 Would appreciate any help (and hair style pics for ideas)! Sniff...
Female hair loss & Real difference between rogaine for women & men? I'm 22 y/o and am having the early (yet sadly quite noticeable) stages of alopecia (baldness). I have been on Nioxin system 2 (including the follicle booster) for about 4/5 months and have had NO hair regrowth. If anything it seems that I'm just seeing more thinning. My dermatologist has suggested that I use Rogaine Extra Strength, and that its simply more effective. I wasn't able to find the extra strength in a value pack, but I did find the regular Men's Foam. So I purchased that. I'm a little spooked to use it though as the bottle says several times that women should not use it, and that it may grow hair other places. I also heard that your hair can fall out a lot at first, and then hopefully it will start coming back in. Arrggg! I need to do something to get my hair growing back, but nothing has worked so far. Oh and I also have been on a multi and biotin vitamins for a couple years. Biotin hasn't done anything for my hair, but nails are killer! lol
Female Hair Loss Question: Sore Scalp & Tons of Hair Falling Out. HELP!? For the past year I have been experiencing a sore scalp in a male balness pattern. You know...in the front top of my scalp in a U shape. Its getting really bad. Not so much receeding anymore but taking a deeper U shape. When ever my scalp gets sore in this area my hair falls out quite rapidly and with barely any touch. I falls out from the follicle. When the soreness goes away, my hair stops falling out. Sometimes my scalp gets so sore that it hurts just to move my hair from side to side. Anybody every experience this or heard of it?
Female hair loss at age 22- desperate for help!!? My parents have lush thick black hair, and I did too up until a month ago. Everyone is telling me it's from stress but I'm not under a significant amount of stress. I noticed it when I was pulling my hair back in a pony tail and the thickness was almost half of what it typically is. I'm starting to get very concerned and obsessing over it. I don't have health insurance, so I can't see a dermatologist or hair specialist, but my school has a health center that I plan on going to. Any suggestions/ideas? Serious answers only please. I appreciate it!!

What are the causes and natural treatments of female hair loss and mood swings? I've also started getting broken thread viens from walking too much! Recently I have joined a gym and go 3 times a week and also do one session of yoga a week. I started to loose a lot of hair after giving birth and not regained all of it although my hair dresser said some is starting to grow back. I get mood swings, low libido and feel really low and not quite right physically sometimes - may be food allergy. Started taking maca, St John's Wort, gingko bilbo and also take flax seed oil to ensure I get enough omega 3,6 and 9 as vegetarian. I tired a wheat, dairy sugar free eating plan and did feel better but stopped...
18 year old female experiencing hair loss!? i've been experiencing hair loss for a few years but lately its become worse and worse. A few strands come out here and there which i know is normal..but in the shower a lot of hair falls out. I've haven't had regular menstrual cycles and when i think about it...when my period has been regular there was less hair loss and vice versa. Could my hair loss just be because of an imbalance in hormones? and i have already been to the dermatologist and he said that he found no problem with my scalp and my blood tests say that my nutrition is fine. Could birth control solve the situation?

Hair loss female?? I am 21 years old and recently have noticed my hair has thinned up quite a bit.? For the last month or so my hair has thinned all over my head. My hair feels dead, i mean no life what so ever. I bought the pantene pro v hair restorative, but left my hair feeling dry and brittle still. Well about a month ago me and someone got into a fight, and my hair was pulled 3 times in one day, pretty hard. I wonder could this be the reason for my hair loss. My scalp is sore and hair pulls out easily. I have also lost a good amount of weight since my baby 15 months ago. Could it be from this. I have also been an implanon birth control for about a year now. I am getting the implanon removed next month because i think this is the cause. Also was wondering if someone might know how to stop hair loss, or any ideas. Was just wondering if anyone might have some in sight. Please no rude answers i am very sensitive about this subject, and i am just looking for honest help. Thank you. Miriah
I'm a 22 year old female with hair loss? I've noticed in the past couple of months my hair has been falling out more than normal, with the white bulb attached. I went to the doctor and he did blood tests and my thyroid was fine, no diabetes, I did show a bit of a low iron level though so he prescribed me iron pills. I also went to the dermatologist and he didn't seem that concerned either, asked the usual questions about stress (I'm as stressed as the next person, diet (mine's not great, but it's not terrible either), etc. He told me I need to take more blood tests and I still need to do those (I think they're for ANA, whatever that is, testosterone and what looks to be DHT? Handwriting is of course sloppy) I've been taking multivitamins and biotin and drinking protein shakes and I THINK the hair loss has slowed slightly, but I still see hairs in my hairbrush with the root attached, and the hair on the top of my head is noticeable thinner, at least to me. How much more am I going to lose??? I'm freaking out
Anyone knows what causes hair loss??? "21" Female? After I gave birth to my last child, which she is now 4 months old. I notice that I was losing some hair- more than usual. I didn't pay any mind because I convinced myself that I was only losing hair because I didn't wash it as often, I maybe washed it like 1x a week or 1x every two weeks, and that's because I hardly went out & stuff & my hair- most of the time was clean. Now it's been 2 months that I started a simple diet, eating more vegetables-instead of frying I'll eat something that's cooked, steam, or baked- you know nothing too greasy, I drink more water than before, I never use to drink water- maybe like 3x a week, it was mostly o.juice I drunk. I'm not taking any medications, except, that I took birth control pills for 2 months- but the hair problem started before that. I feel sleepy-real tired to the point that I can fall asleep in the public- which is something I never do. I'm not pregnant-& I'm positive about it. I'm actually starting to notice that my hair line is pushed back a little, and on the sides next to my bangs, looks real light- like you can clearly see my scalp, It's really starting to freak me out, to the point that I'm thinking something is happening to my body. When I brush my hair in the shower when I wash it, clumps of hair comes off, I hardly put stuff in my hair like gel, hairspray eyc, just a small amount of gel, nothing else. When I comb my hair, and I grab it or touch it, strings of hair just come off like nothing. I'm not stressing, what can it be???? Please help! Should I call my doctor? What can I do to prevent hair loss? I'm only 21 & its really freaking me out. That itself it's making me stress. Can it be a serious condition? Thank you in advanced.
hair loss? i used to tie my hair alot and now i have bold spots in my head there not completly without hair but very fine hair, anyway will my hair ever grow back in these spots?and also wt is the best spray or solution for female hair loss?
Birth control pills and hair loss? I'm 16 and stopped using Yasmin (for menstrual cramps, I'm a virgin) three months ago. I have noticed thinning on the top of my scalp since then. I went to a dermatologist and he said that the hair loss should stop after a few months. I was just wondering if anyone else has had (or is having) the same problem. Did you hair really grow back? Or did it just stop falling out? Hair loss (particularly female hair loss) runs in my family...So I'm very worried.
Female dog hair loss.? My female shih tzu/ lasa apso crosses hair is falling out I think. I have been finding same about penny size dropping of hair. She doest` seem to be itchy and her skin is very clear. What could be this problem we also feed her premium dog food and a good shampoo and conditioner. *She may be pregnant. (and yes we will be taking her to the vet) She is still young only her second heat cycle. Both breeds are non - shedding.
26 yr old female with hair loss? I am a 26 year old female in good health. In the past couple months I have noticed that I have been losing a significant amount of hair when I am brushing it or washing it. I literally can get a handful which I have never had a problem with before. I do wear my hair up a lot at school so I am not sure if my rubberbands are pulling hairs loose??? Also, I had a baby 9 months ago and I know that sometimes women can lose more hair in post partum months, but I have never heard of it happening 9 months after the fact. I have looked on my head and see no bald patches. I am not sure if stress can do this or what, but I am getting paranoid! What could be the cause....any ideas of what this may be?
